Nepal’s state-owned Udayapur Cement Industry has announced plans to increase production capacity to 800tpd from 350tpd, according to the New Business Age. Nepal’s Udayapur Cement Industry Ltd has seen reduced production and sales between August-September as a result of low voltage and abrupt power cuts, according to the company. Sanjay Lal Karna, chief of the production division, said that the state-owned factory has not been able to address market demand due to the power supply issues. Udayapur Cement Industry of Nepal has fired 82 members of staff who had been repeatedly warned for their below par performance. The staff included drivers, officers and engineers.
